Books I Love

What Got You Here Won’t Get You There by Marshall Goldsmith

Dr Marshall Goldsmith is an executive coach to the corporate elite, having written or edited 35 books, I personally love this one, What Got You Here Won’t Get You There.

This is a great book that clearly outlines 20 bad habits that stifle the already successful high level executives from further development towards their personal goals.  Not only does it help in the corporate setting, it is also very relevant to be applied on the personal front – family, marriage, friends.

One very important aspect Dr Marshall Goldsmith pointed out which I thought was really good was “Stop being so YOU”.

So the challenge now is to just stop being YOU for a moment, cleanse out that behavior in you and start afresh.

This book is suitable for everyone and not just for the already successful individuals.

As Dr Marshall Goldsmith himself is an executive coach, he seeks to “reset” his clients’ behavior, improve their people skills before thinking about further personal growth.

Life is a continuous journey and through the books I have read and events I have attended, I come to know there is really always room for improvement within oneself, to be a better person and to contribute to others.

So, like the title of the book suggests…what got you here won’t get you to where you want to go, so let’s start to reflect and make the necessary adjustment so that we all can have a better personal growth.

I am sure you will enjoy Dr Marshall Goldsmith’s book and find it valuable.
